Heading into Lambeau
My husband and I made our annual trip to Green Bay, WI, recently to visit Lambeau Field for a Packer’s game. I love a good road trip, and there’s nothing quite like the excitement of a trip out to Green Bay for a Packer’s game. In sharing our memories with friends recently, I realized this is one of those trips that’s worth some insider knowledge to help the experience go well. So, for those considering a trip out to Green Bay, here are some of our tips and tricks.
Getting tickets:
Green Bay Packers tickets can be difficult to come by, especially if you’re not familiar with the process. While you can find tickets on sites like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, it’s important to be cautious as there have been reports of scams in the past. If you’re looking for legitimate tickets, consider reaching out to a valid reseller or supplier. We have suppliers we work with for legitimate tickets for the game, whether they’re playing at home or away.
Where to stay:

Wingate by Wyndham Green Bay Airport King Room
If you’re looking for hotels near Lambeau Field, it’s best to book early as they tend to fill up quickly. Many hotels require a 2-night minimum stay and prices can be higher around game day. If you’re unable to find a hotel within walking distance of the stadium, consider staying at a hotel near the Green Bay airport. On this last trip, we stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham next to the Green Bay Airport. We found it to be clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep after a long day of tailgating and a tough game for the Packers (yes, we lost that game, sadly). The hotel has an airport shuttle for those flying to Green Bay from distant locations. We learned there was a manager’s reception on weekday evenings; however, we missed it because we were at the Thursday night game. The breakfast spread the next morning looked like your typical hotel breakfast options and people were complimentary about the food, though my husband and I weren’t quite ready to chow down. Instead, we stopped at one of the many family cafes on our travels back home (shout out to the Thorpedo in Thorp, WI!)
On game day:

Lamers game day bus schedule
Beyond the hotel we stayed at, there are several hotels in and out of Green Bay that host buses or shuttles to the game and are also worth looking into. We used a rideshare service to get to the Lambeau area so we could tailgate; however, our driver let us know that getting out of the area after the game is a challenge if you rely on rideshare services. His recommendation was to either take a bus back to the hotel or wait a couple of hours for the area to clear out before attempting to get a Lyft or Uber. Because it was late and we didn’t want to wait for the area to clear out, we hopped on a Lamer’s bus to get back to the hotel from the stadium area. At the time of this post, it was only $8 exact cash per person each way for the ride. Our hotel wasn’t the only one offering a bus ride back though. The bus we took back from the game dropped off at not only our hotel, but also at the Radisson at the Oneida casino across the street from the airport. Frankly, even finding our bus in the sea of busses by the stadium was a little overwhelming, so know that there are a TON of options for hotels with bussing throughout Green Bay and down to Appleton and Oshkosh. We’ve even stayed in Shawano and picked up a bussing package. If you need help finding a hotel with transportation for your stay, send me a message!
Beyond transportation, I would be remiss if I didn’t at least let you know to go to the field early and experience some of the fun in front of the field. You’ll find concessions, vendors with anything from gear to beer, music, and more.
On your way into the field, you may want to rent a stadium chair. Lambeau only has bench seating and it’s pretty narrow for my big behind. Having a stadium chair not only gives me a much needed back rest, but it also preserves my space on the benches, helping to avoid the feeling of being smushed among strangers. If you don’t rent a stadium chair, that’s ok. The strangers won’t be strangers for long – especially when the team makes good plays and scores touchdowns! GO PACK GO!
Other items to add to your itinerary:

Kangaroo lounging at Doc’s Zoo in Bonduel, Wisconsin
You may want to consider making a long weekend out of your visit to Green Bay, and if so, there are lots of things to do! At Lambeau Field alone, you could spend a day exploring the options. Lambeau’s atrium hosts the Packer’s Pro Shop, Packer’s Hall of Fame, 1919 Kitchen and Tap and more. If you’re interested in a scavenger hunt, segway tour, pedal tavern tour, or more, contact me! We can get you hooked up. Beyond these tours, you might also consider visiting the National Railroad Museum, Peninsula State Park, Bay Beach Amusement Park, or the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park. When our kids were young, we loved Bay Beach. It’s an inexpensive place where you’ll find a ton of rides to wear out the littles. Another fun place for the littles or bigs in your family is Doc’s Harley Davidson. Whether you’re a Harley fan or not, you’re

Motorcycle ferris wheel at Doc’s Harley Davidson in Bonduel, Wisconsin
going to find something to love about Doc’s. It’s located about 30 minutes west of Green Bay on Highway 29 in Bonduel, Wisconsin. Beyond the Harley shop you’d expect to see, you’ll find a free zoo with snakes, kangaroos, allegators, and more. You’ll also find various interesting sculptures made by Doc himself. There are a ton of interesting buildings to check out and there’s a really nice car museum showcasing Doc’s collection. Onsite, you’ll also find a restaurant, custard shop and pub. Finally, as you make your way around town or even head home, don’t forget to grab a bite and a Brandy Old Fashioned at a Wisconsin Supper Club. We really enjoyed the food and ambiance at The Palms in Schofield, WI.
Wherever your travels take you, be safe and enjoy the journey.
