Traveling to an all-inclusive resort can be exciting, and having the right items packed ensures a stress-free vacation. Here’s a comprehensive packing list for travelers to an all-inclusive resort:
The Attire:
- Casual Outfits: Lightweight, comfortable clothing for daytime activities.
- Casual Shoes: Comfortable sandals or sneakers. Some resorts require a lot of walking to get from one point to another. Comfortable footwear will be important!
- Dressy Outfits: For evening dinners or special events. Some restaurants require more formal clothing for dinner. For women, that usually means dresses or nice pants and a top. For men, that may mean long pants and a polo shirt or something similar.
- Dressy Shoes: Stylish sandals or closed-toe shoes. Some resorts do require closed-toe shoes in some restaurants for dinner.
- Undergarments/Socks: Don’t forget these essentials! I’ve had to wash mine in the sink before when I didn’t think to pack enough!
- Bathing Suits and Cover-Ups: You’ll be spending time by the pool or beach. I like to bring two suits along – one to wear in the water and one to leave hanging to dry.
- Flip Flops: Perfect for beach walks.
- Sleepwear: Something light and comfy for relaxing.
The Accessories:
- Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun. It will be stronger as you travel further south and sunscreen is usually very expensive at the resort, so bring more than you think you need.
- Bug Spray: Especially if you’re in a jungle/rainforest location.
- Hat and Sunglasses: Shield yourself from UV rays.
- Toiletries and Makeup: Travel-sized versions of your essentials if you’re carrying them on. Otherwise toss your items in your checked bag.
- Personal Hygiene Products: Toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
The Comfort and Convenience Items:
- Yeti, Tervis, Bubba or other mug with straw: Most resorts are happy to make your drink in your insulated mug. As a bonus, it’s an eco-friendly choice too!
- Pool Floats: If you plan to relax in the water, bring a pool float or noodle, though be aware that not all resorts allow them. If they do, many times the resort will inflate your float for you too!
- Beach Bag: This is a must to carry your essentials, but don’t put anything important in here. Keep valuables in your safe!
- Book: For leisurely reading.
- Sleeping Mask/Earplugs: Useful for daytime naps or quiet sleeping situations.
- Headphones: Enjoy music or podcasts.
The Important Extras:
- Important Documents: Passport, travel insurance, and booking confirmations. Don’t forget to bring printed copies as back-ups. It’s also a great idea to leave copies of your passport with someone at home.
- First Aid Essentials and Medications: Band-Aids, pain relievers, allergy medication, stomach relievers, bug bite treatment, etc. These are expensive to purchase on-site, so bring some from home.
- Waterproof Phone/Money Holder: Keep valuables safe.
- Electronics Chargers: Don’t forget your phone charger! I also like to bring an extension adapter because there are never enough plugs in a room. I use a non-surge adapter I use for my cruise travels too!
- Travel Fan: This is probably my favorite extra. I use a small rechargeable fan that not only keeps the air moving at night, but also adds some white noise for better sleep.
- Travel Adapter: If you’re in a different country, check to see if you’ll need a travel adapter.
- Door Lock: Extra security for your room.
Happy traveling!
